Potential Pryor Challenger Emerges
Unfortunately, he`s not a Republican. Democrat Lt. Gov. Bill Halter has thus far refused to rule out a challenge to Sen. Mark Pryor. Halter, though popular, is not nearly as popular or well known as the incumbent. What`s more, all of the state`s constitutional officers save Halter have already acted in support of Pryor, making the task of fundraisingfor the bid a formidable one. With Pryor looking strong, it is tough to see where Halter`s establishment support would come from. As such, Halter is unlikely to make the challenge, but a headache, even a small one, for Pryor is certainly welcome news for Republicans, who continue to search for a challenger.
