Quinn Finds Form Against Penn State

As predicted here last week, Brady Quinn found his form against Penn State, completing 25 of 36 passes for 287 yards and three touchdowns.  Though his protection was inconsistent, Quinn managed to play field general and find his open receivers, who did their part by making some very difficult catches.  While the scoreboard read 41-17 at the end, two of PSU’s touchdowns were scored in garbage time, and the game actually was not that close.

While Irish fans can’t help but be encouraged, both lines must improve dramatically if we are to have any chance of defeating Michigan on Saturday.  The Wolverines will not lose to an opponent that made the mistakes of the Irish two days ago.  126 yards in penalties, four sacks conceded, and an average of 6.5 yards given up per rush will not get the job done.  Look for Weis to make the necessary adjustments and for things to tighten up next week.  41-17 won’t happen again, but look for the Irish to hold on by a point or two against big blue.
