Strike Three. They’re Out.

Kentuckey Attorney General Greg Stumbo confirmed yesterday that he will forgo a Senate bid in order to run for his old state House seat.  In doing so, Stumbo become the third major Democrat, after Rep. Ben Chandler and State Auditor Crit Laullen, to decline a bid.  Stumbo was the Democrats’ last great hope of making a run at Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.  Democrats are now forced to turn to Andrew Horne, whose only political experience is a losing primary bid for a Congressional seat.

This race could get interesting if… okay, no, it won’t.  This race is a done deal.  Senator McConnell will be reelected.  His poll numbers may sag a bit and Horne could show respectable poll numbers here or there, but ultimately McConnell’s war chest will prove far too much for the darling of the far left.
