Stumbo Stumbling Out of the Box

McConnell.jpgLest anyone wonder why Kentucky Attorney General Greg Stumbo has trouble raising money, his own words might have a lot to do with it.  He is asking people not to contribute more than $250 to his exploratory committee.  Don’t tell him, but that’s not going to get the job done.

If Stumbo were serious about challenging Sen. Mitch McConnell, he’d be hustling out of the box, working to raise as much money as possible to create momentum for his campaign.  Instead, he is already casting doubt about his own ability to raise enough money to drop the Senate Minority Leader.  Why Stumbo is bothering to explore a bid if he is going to do so in such a self-defeating manner is a mystery.

Stumbo’s statement effectively means that Democrats will continue to burn time, hoping against hope that Rep. Chandler reconsidered and enters the race.  In the meantime, McConnell will continue to stockpile for the eventual “race”, if it can be callled that by the time this Democrat foolishness has finished running its course.  With political ineptitude like this, one wonders how Stumbo ever won any office.  His words are a sign that he knows he can’t win, and Democrats’ failure to react to them show that they too have thrown in the towel on the race.
