H/T: Race42008: According to the American Spectator, Senator Tom Coburn, aka Senator Trainwreck, is considering entering the 2008 Presidential race. This is blockbuster news. Unlike any candidate currently in the field, Sen. Tom Coburn would not only placate all conservatives, but would excite conservatives of every stripe.
A former OBGYN, Coburn has delivered thousands of babies and assumed leadership on the life issue while in Congress. He understands the need to finish the job in Iraq. He’s an opponent of gun control. Perhaps most importantly, Sen. Coburn would reinvigorate a fundamental discussion about the size and scope of government like only Rep. Ron Paul among the current candidates could. He understands that the Constitution places real restraints on government, and as President he would riegn in the out of control, unconstitutional spending in Washington.
Sen. Tom Coburn is prescisely the leader the GOP needs to lead us out of the wilderness. Every conservative could get excited about his candidacy, and he would unite the Party like no candidate since President Reagan. Here’s hoping that Sen. Tom Coburn serves as the Party’s and country’s savior by entering this race.
