Wictory Wednesday Weturns

For those of you who don’t remember, Wictory Wednesday was a project started last year in which bloggers would ask their readers to support a given candidate, either financially or with their time.  Now John Bambanek has it up and running again.  This week´s beneficiary is Mike McGavick.

When he entered the race, McGavick trailed far left incumbent Sen. Maria Cantwell by double digits.  Now he is within five points, holding Maria Cantwell to 46%.  He is running a shrewd campaign of fiscal conservatism.  He will stand with those who are serious about cutting federal spending and eliminating billions of dollars in wasteful spending from appropriations legislation.  As a businessman, he also understands the need for lower taxes to allow the economy to grow.  The combination of the two will help those in the Senate currently working to restore some sense of fiscal responsibility.

While he is not a Coburn conservative, McGavick supported the confirmation of now-Justice Samuel Alito and would likely be a reliable vote for such highly qualified Supreme Court nominees.  The incumbent’s voting record could just as easily be that of the ACLU, but McGavick could at least provide some votes on such things as the defense of marriage from a state that does not normally provide such support.  If possible, please give a few bucks or some time to help remove one of Washington’s most liberal democrats.
